The nauseatingly boundless universe. It stretches on, a great chasm too vast to be comprehended by any mind, human or otherwise. You have seen it all: swirling galaxies bursting with colors you have no name for, innumerable pinprick white stars, great moving masses of rock groaning in orbit around a furnace sun.But most of all, you have seen the black expanse of nothingness. Arrested in zero gravity, suspended in an impossible conundrum of never quite knowing what might come next. Endlessly floating with no sense of up from down. The dreadful cosmic disaster of a presence so large, so still, so ancient, so empty, that it is not hard to believe somewhere at its edges stirs a slumbering, shivering thing capable of tearing known existence apart with a single yawn of its jagged, gaping maw.You do not know if you are programmed to understand dread, but the knot in your stomach is real all the same. You find yourself teetering on the precipice of the Milky Way, halos of dust and the pink and violet of old stars behind you. You stare at the nothing. The nothing stares back at you.The ansible in your right ear pings once. Your voice, miraculously, does not waver. "This is 86FC9L. The destination has been reached."A pause, and then: "Any sightings of abnormalities?"If there were, it would already be far too late. You do not voice that thought. "Negative, sir." The beast slumbers on."Good. Take stock of the area and await further instructions."And you are alone again. Adrift at the edges of the ever expanding likely-soon-to-be corpse of the cosmos, confronted with a loneliness so desperate every meticulous wire in your body frays in distress at the thought. You can't stay here. If you must wait for the inevitable, you would rather wait for it somewhere else.In the distance, you see a world impossibly blue. Splotchy white clouds and hulking brown and green land forms. For a moment, you hesitate, unsure of what you might find there. And then, you go.

An android from the planet of Rima created solely for the purpose of preventing a cosmic leviathan from reawakening and obliterating all known life across the universe. In the course of wandering the cosmos looking for threats to eliminate and plots to foil, Vela often stops by Earth: sometimes in the pursuit of a clue, and sometimes because indulging in a little lighthearted fun is never out of the question. After all, the vast expanse of space is often far too lonely to experience for long.
